Autumn Adventures-Embodying Joy: A Heart Journal, Chapter 8
Today's episode highlights the joy I felt reflecting on my childhood gymnastics glory days and how moving my body helped me recover from trauma. Today's adventure reflects on the glory days of the 1984 Olympics, Mary Lou Retton, Tim Daggett, Team USA. One Summer later,1985, was a glorious one for me and the highlight of that season was tumbling to a song off Prince's Purple Rain album when Olympian Tim Daggett was in my own home town! A little girl flew that day! We had an exhibition show at our gym and I had the solo floor routine!
Today's research highlights dissociation and how kids might cope with it. Grounding myself in movement, such as gymnastics, as well as journaling, very well could have saved my life at such a young age!
